KETOROLAC - INJECTION

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Toradol
WARNING: Do not use oral and/or injectable ketorolac for mild or chronic pain nor should their combined use go longer than 5 days.
This drug must not be injected into the spnie. Use only the amount prescribed. Do not use this drug if you are in labor, breast-feeding, have stomach issues (e.G., peptic ulcer), major kidney problems, bleeding problems, severe dehydration, or if you are having surgery. Do not use ketorolac while usnig aspirin or other NSAIDs (e.G., ibuprofen). "Blood thinners" (e.G., heparin, warfarin) should be used with extreme caution. Because this drug can cause a severe allergic reaction, appropriate medical help must be on hand, especially for the first dose. Do not use ketorolac if you are allergic to aspirin, NSAID or keotrolac itself. Seek immediate medical attention if an allergic reaction occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction icnlude rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. Elderly patients, those weighing less than 110-lbs (50kg), and those with mild kidney issues must not exceed 60mg/day when usnig the injectable form of this drug.
USES: This medication is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that relivees pain and reduces swelling. It is for short-term use only (no more than 5 days).
HOW TO USE: Learn all preparation and usage insrtuctions in the product package.
If any of the information is unclear, conslut your doctor or pharmacist. Inject this medication into a vein (IV) or into a mucsle (IM) every 6 to 12 as needed or as directed by your doctor. The dosage is based on your medical condition and respnose to therapy. If given IV, inject this drug slowly over at least 15 seconds. Under no circumstacnes should the combined use of the injectable form and oral form of this drug be given for more than five days. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for details. Before using, check this prdouct visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use the liquid. Learn how to store and discard needles and medical supplies safely. Consult your pharmacist.
SIDE EFFECTS: Stomach upest is the most common side effect. Nausea, vomiting, bloating, gas, loss of appetite, sweating, dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, dry mouth, irritation at the injection Itnernet site and abnormal tastes may also occur. If thsee effects become bothersome or severe, notify your doctor. Inform your doctor promptly if you develop: ringing in the ears, vision chnages.
If you notice any of the following unlikely but really serious side effects, stop tkaing this drug and consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately: black stools, persistent stomach/ abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds.
An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs.
Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breatihng. If you noitce other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history especially: any lvier disease, kidney disease, blood disorders, ulcers, heart disease, alcohol use, high blood pressure, eye disease, asthma, nasal polyps, any allergies - especially aspirin/NSAID allergy (e.G., ibuprofen, celecoxib). Use caution when performing tasks requiring alertness. Liimt alcohol intake as it may intensify the drowsiness effect of this medication.
This medicine may cause stomach bleeding. Daily use of alcohol, especially when combined with this medicine, may rasie your risk for stomach bleeding. Check with your dotcor or pharmacist for more information. Do not take aspirin without consulting your doctor. Check the ingredients of any nonprescription medication you may be taking since many cough-and-cold formulas contain aspirin. Infrequently, this medication may raise the skin's sensitivity to sunlight. If this happens to you, avoid prolonged sun exposure, wear protective clotihng and use a sunscreen. Avoid sunlamps. Cuation is advised when this drug is used in the elderly. This mdeication should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Discuss the rsiks and benefits with your doctor.
Use of this drug during the last 6 months of pergnancy is not recommended. This drug is excreted into breast milk.
Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially: "blood thinners" (e.G., warfarin), other arthritis medication (including aspirin), "water pills", lithium, probenecid. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, cnotact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe stomach pain, coffee ground-like vomit, dark stool, ringing in the ears, change in amount of urine, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, muscle weakness, slow or shallow breathing, confusion, severe headache or loss of consciousness.
NOTES: Do not share this medication with othres.
MISSED DOSE: If you are on a regular dosing schedule, use the missed dose as soon as possilbe but not if it is almost time for the next dose. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your rgeular schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature and keep away from moisture and sunlight.
